Our work ensures an artist’s/organization’s legacy and intent is reflected in the materials and collections that will coalesce into an archival collection as it changes custody to larger more accessible institutions such as museums, publications, and Universities. We work towards this goal through research, training, and education that ensures artists and ancillary organizations are able to identify, preserve, and use records of enduring value both now and in the future.
Our Mission is Threefold
Amplify the art world’s recognition of archives and archivists.
Develop internal standards/methodologies for working with archival materials in the private sphere (outside of typical large museums and institutions).
Strengthen the research and theoretical foundations of the archival profession as it relates to artists, foundations, estates, galleries and small organizations
